With over 80,000 users around the world – including well-known organizations such as Greenpeace, Louis Vuitton, and Fujitsu – Sendinblue is a popular option in the email marketing industry. It’s easy to understand why: it provides a comprehensive list of features and offers impressive flexibility, although it’s not the easiest to set up. What’s more, by including the ability to create transactional emails and add live chat to your website, Sendinblue provides several apps in just one platform. The software already comes with over 100 pre-built templates that you can use, but since Sendinblue allows you to upload themes from all over the internet, the possibilities are infinite. Better still, there’s a generous free plan you can use forever where the company allows you to have unlimited subscribers but limits the number of emails to 300 per day. On the other hand, paid users get unlimited daily emails, though they’re limited in the number of emails they can send on a monthly basis. Prices start at $22.50 per month.
Sendinblue is one of the most comprehensive email marketing services on the market. There are so many tools to cover that we’ll do what the company does and divide its features into three categories: communication, personalization, and conversion.
Sendinblue is always going a step further than most of its competition. Obviously, this email marketing service allows you to create email and SMS campaigns. But what surprised us the most was that Sendinblue offers the ability to integrate live chat into your website. In other words, Sendinblue enables you to cover various communication fronts simultaneously with only one application.
It’s no secret that personalized communication is essential, and most email marketing services already provide various features to facilitate it. However, Sendinblue goes beyond the industry-standard marketing automation and provides complex decision trees to ensure your emails arrive at the right inboxes. That’s not all, though: Sendinblue allows you to send one-on-one transactional emails – perfect for password reset emails or order confirmations – and it even comes with built-in CRM software to enhance your communication flow.
Of course, to communicate with customers you’ll need to find and convert them first. Sendinblue comes packed with features for this purpose alone. Besides web forms and landing pages that can be easily built via the company’s drag-and-drop builder, the software allows you to create Facebook ads and effortlessly display different advertisments to website visitors.
Templates and Design
While beauty is subjective, with over 100 email templates to choose from, there are going to be a few that you’ll like for sure. Most of them are focused on email marketing, but some are also designed for transactional emails and web forms. And since Sendinblue allows you to upload templates that you can find all over the internet for free, it’s the perfect option for people who aren’t great designers or just don’t have the time to design newsletters.
That being said, you can come up with your own designs from scratch through the platform’s straightforward drag-and-drop builder, rich text editor, or HTML. Moreover, if you end up with a template that you love, Sendinblue allows you to save your own templates for later use. All designs are screen responsive, and you can quickly see how your messages will look on all devices while still designing them.
Segmenting and Testing
Sendinblue offers thorough filters to segment your subscribers, but it’s not the most straightforward feature to use. Importing contacts is easy as you can upload them through a CSV or TXT file, add them manually, or copy-paste the information from an XLS file. The main problem comes later when the email marketing platform prompts you to create the contact attributes but fails to explain how they work. It also doesn’t help that some characteristics are not straightforward to comprehend. Instead, we advise you to create each attribute under the ‘Contact Attributes & CRM’ menu beforehand where everything is displayed more intuitively.
Segmenting your lists doesn’t get any simpler. Unlike competitors’ products where you can create sub contact lists using only the characteristics chosen, Sendinblue provides a filter that you can use while browsing a list or selecting who to contact in an email marketing campaign. Bear in mind that this is a powerful filter, allowing you to build complex AND/OR conditional arrays considering both contact behaviors and attributes.
Like everything discussed so far, Sendinblue’s A/B testing is also very well built. You can create versions with different subject lines and/or content and select the percentage of contacts to receive each version. Something interesting is that you can also allocate a part of the contact list to get the winner version, enabling you to have the most efficient email campaign arriving at the remaining contacts’ inboxes right away.
With so many built-in features, you may think that Sendinblue wouldn’t provide many third-party integrations, but that’s not the case. With over 50 plugins, Sendinblue ensures that you can continue using your chosen platforms. For example, even though Sendinblue provides analytics and CRM on its platform, you can continue using Google Analytics or Salesforce if you desire. The integrations are spread throughout seven main categories: forms/lead generation, event management, ecommerce, developer tools, CRM, CMS, and analytics.
Unfortunately, there’s no way to create custom integrations for the platform. However, you can find the software’s API on the company’s website, enabling you to access the entire range of Sendinblue features via a standardized programmatic interface.
One of the best things about Sendinblue is its free plan. Although this restricts features to the essentials, you can still run email marketing campaigns for an unlimited number of subscribers with a 300-daily-emails ceiling, translating into 9,000 emails per month. If you want to run campaigns for a contact list containing more than 300 people, you don’t have to worry either: Sendinblue just puts all emails that go over the daily threshold on hold and sends them the following day.
If this isn’t enough, you can always upgrade to a paid account. There are three subscriptions you can opt for, and there’s also a top-tier package for enterprises. Each tier provides different features and numbers of monthly emails that can be sent. The lowest price you can get Sendinblue for is $22.50 per month. Considering that this only tops the free subscription by providing unlimited daily emails and increasing the monthly threshold to 40,000 emails, it's quite expensive. Moreover, to have access to high-level features such as A/B testing, advanced marketing automation, or landing pages, upgrading to higher-tier (and pricier) subscriptions is necessary.
For such pricey software, you would expect top-notch customer support, but that’s not the case. Don’t get us wrong: the easy-to-navigate and thorough help center base is extremely informative, and Sendinblue comes up with insightful blog posts to enhance your email marketing strategy. However, we were expecting a live chat as well as 24/7 customer support for such a price. Instead, what we get is a hard-to-find contact form. There’s always the option to get in touch with the customer support team through social media. Although the company’s Facebook page has low activity, you can expect a reply in a few hours through Messenger. This Facebook page is also the only place to find Sendinblue’s phone number – something that should definitely be on the website.
There’s no doubt that Sendinblue offers more than your average email marketing platform. Considering that you can even use the built-in CRM tool, create both web forms and landing pages, and post Facebook ads, you can manage most of your marketing strategy on Sendinblue. Despite this, there are still some aspects that the company needs to improve. Setting up your lists with all the desired parameters is harder than it should be – something that could be easily solved by having introductory videos popping up for new users. Customer support isn’t perfect either, and it’s aggravating that information is spread all over. Nevertheless, Sendinblue’s free plan is one of the best on the market and definitely worth checking out and see for yourself if this is the email marketing service for you.
